Tawnisha Harbour: an update
Action 3 News in Omaha, Nebraska, reports that Tawnisha Harbour's mother, Cherie Harbour, 40, has been sentenced to 3 to 5 years in prison in connection with her daughter's death. She was charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult, and will be eligible for parole in one and a half years.
As conveyed by FRIDA in earlier posts, Tawnisha Harbour, 23, died after suffering burns to her arms, legs and face in a house fire. It is alleged that Tawnisha, who used a wheelchair, was left unattended in the house and was unabled to escape when the fire broke out. According to police, Wendy Harbour locked Tawnisha in her bedroom by tying a bedsheet to the outside door knob to the room. That made it impossible for her to escape when the fire broke out.

Sad news this morning: Tawnisha Harbour, the young, disabled woman who was not able to get out of her burning bedroom, has died.
The Omaha World Herald reports that Tawnisha Harbour, age 23, died from her injuries shortly after 2pm yesterday (Monday) at the Nebraska Medical Center.
According to police, Tawnisha's mother, Wendy Harbour, 40, who allegedly locked Tawnisha in her bedroom by using a bedsheet to secure the door, has been charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult.
"There is no evidence to show that Cherie Harbour intentionally burned her daughter," according to an assistant public defender.
As reported by the Associated Press last week, Tawnisha, who used a wheelchair, was allegedly left unattended in the house, and was unable to escape when the fire broke out. Firefighters were not able to reach her immediately because her bedroom windows and door were locked.
Tawnisha had used a wheelchair since September 2003, when the car she was driving hit an oncoming car. She had graduated from North High School the same year.
RIP, Tawnisha.
